Earlier this week, Gov. Newsom signed the bill that made our agreement with the State a law — and a contract! After four-plus months of bargaining, and with the support of thousands of our represented employees taking action, we have a deal, but … what’s the deal?

The highlights of what we won include a 10% general salary increase, more than 300 special wage and salary adjustments, reductions in our pre-retirement funding, plus a health care stipend.

LAPS training program for Job Stewards accepting applications

We are now accepting applications for LAPS FastTrack, the SEIU Local 1000 Job Steward Training Program which will begin June 1, 2024, and we invite you to apply to become a Job Steward.

It’s official! Gov. Newsom Signs SB 148 Into Law, Securing Funding for Our Contract

Governor Newsom has signed the bill (SB 148) that funds our compensation and benefits for the next three years, which means we officially have a fully-executed contract with the State.

Our bargaining cycle, which began earlier this year and included town halls, bargaining surveys, and more than four months of intense negotiations, has now come full circle.

Week-long Board of Directors meeting to focus on future union governance

Next week, our SEIU Local 1000 Board of Directors will hold a five-day meeting, with a focus on debating and voting on changes to our union governance.

The Local 1000 Board of Directors will meet in Sacramento Aug. 18-22. The Board is comprised of member-elected representatives—51 District Labor Council (DLC) Presidents, 10 Bargaining Unit (BU) Chairs, and 3 statewide officers.
