CalEPA Telework Schedule Change Meet and Confer

Post

On Thursday, April 18, 2024, our Union met with CalEPA Boards, Divisions, and Offices (BDO) to meet and confer on the changes to the Telework Schedule policy. Starting June 17, 2024, all employees are expected to report to the office two (2) days a week. We asked many questions and brought up various issues that they are still figuring out how best to address.

As stated in the updated Telework Policy, in person is defined as a person reporting in person including by reporting to an office or traveling to and performing work in the field. These examples are not exhaustive.

Scheduling return-to-office days will all be considered on a case-by-case basis. Therefore, talk to your supervisor IMMEDIATELY for the following return to office considerations:

  • Reasonable accommodation
  • Accessibility equipment needs
  • Ergonomic needs
  • If the reporting office is more than 50 miles from where you live
  • Special job duty needs, such as unique equipment
  • Scheduling days of the week
  • Information on parking and commuter programs

The process for addressing each of these issues will be slightly different depending on your BDO.

This table will remain open, and we will continue to address issues as they arise. We are planning to meet again prior to implementation.
