We stand in solidarity with the California Association of Professional Scientists

After nearly 1,300 days of bargaining, our sisters and brothers at the California Association of Professional Scientists (CAPS) have called for a three-day strike Nov. 15-17 and are holding a rally in downtown Sacramento on Saturday, Nov. 18.

Here’s where you can learn more about the CAPS fight.

SEIU Local 1000 stands in unwavering solidarity with the members of CAPS as they embark on a crucial strike to advocate for fair wages, improved working conditions, and the rights of workers across California. As an ally and fellow champion of workers’ rights, we believe it is our duty to support and amplify the voices of those fighting for a more equitable and just workplace.

This strike is not only a pivotal moment for CAPS’s members but also a call to action for the broader workforce to recognize and address the systemic issues that persist for all state workers. We commend the courage and determination of CAPS members who have chosen to take a stand, and we offer our full support.

In an expression of solidarity, SEIU Local 1000 acknowledges the right of individual workers to make a personal choice regarding their decision to honor CAPS picket lines.

We respect the autonomy of our employees and recognize those who choose to honor the picket line set up by CAPS. This decision is a personal one, and we encourage open communication among our workforce to foster understanding and mutual support during this period.
