Join your union brothers and sisters for a family-friendly Labor Day event!

Article Published on September 1, 2023

After a long, hot summer, we’re all looking forward to Labor Day and a well-deserved three-day weekend. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy some family time and celebrate some solidarity with your union brothers and sisters, we have some ideas.

Labor Day signifies more than just the end of summer—it’s a poignant reminder that our journey toward progress for workers is an ongoing struggle. Each fight we take on together for working people helps shape a future where union jobs are within every Californian’s reach. It’s been a national holiday since 1894, and its origins were labor unions who pressed for worker recognition, for their accomplishments as well as their mistreatment.

Food for thought this weekend … but don’t forget there’s food and fun at these events:

Sacramento Labor Council
This year, the Sacramento Central Labor Council will once again be presenting a Labor Day Picnic in the Park on Monday, September 4, from 5:00 – 8:30 p.m. in Fairytale Town, 3901 Land Park Drive in Sacramento. The festivities include a free BBQ supper, a beer garden, and live music.

Local 1000 will also have a booth at the Sacramento Labor Day Picnic that will include voting material for members to vote and drop off their ballots. Click here for more information and registration
