Our Fight for a Fair Contract Continues
Our contract expiration date is fast approaching, and while the State remains silent on our key economic proposals, we are pushing ahead in our fight to get the protections, respect, and pay that our members need and deserve. By offering proposals to strengthen language around time off and working conditions, including a proposal to add a new holiday for Local1000- represented workers, we are presenting the State with the demands our members have voiced again and again.
Lavender Committee Member Raises AIDS Funding with Help from Local 1000
SEIU Local 1000 member and DMV worker Frank Boslet recently participated in the AIDS Life Cycle under a sponsorship from SEIU Local 1000. This week-long event takes riders from San Francisco to Los Angeles by bicycle, traveling across the state as they raise money and awareness for this critical public health issue.
Job Steward Steps in to Lead Worksite Win
Annalinda Kimaara became a job steward, like many of our members, to help her coworkers and workplace thrive. When she was asked to take over a representation issue for a custodian at Metro State Hospital, she was standing up for the rights of workers in their workplaces.
