On Monday, November 13, 2023, our Union’s Bargaining Unit 4 and Unit 20 teams met with the California Correctional Healthcare Services (CCHCS) to discuss the implementation of a new eSignature Policy. We covered the following topics:
- CCHCS provided an overall description of the new eSignature Policy and how it would impact employees.
- The Union addressed concerns about the safety of staff required to be in close proximity to inmates and the steps that could be taken to mitigate this risk.
- The State made clear that employees could continue to utilize paper forms should there be any concerns with safety or technology.
- The State provided an update on the new technology that would be used by employees to complete the eSignature process.
We were able to get many of our questions answered by the department. Now we are moving toward collaborating with the State to improve the training and implementation of the new eSignature Policy at CCHCS. The issue remains open while we monitor the training and rollout of the new policy.
Please contact your Unit 4 or Unit 20 inboxes with any questions you have about the use or implementation of the new eSignature Policy at CCHCS by emailing Unit 20 at [email protected] or Unit 4 at [email protected]
The Unit 4 team was led by Jose-Eric Alcaraz. The Unit 20 team was led by Heather Markovich. To learn more about your Unit 4 and 20 Bargaining Teams, please go to www.seiu1000.org
