LOCAL 1000 CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS
With a mind toward fulfilling our purpose statement and giving all members the opportunity to have a good life, live in sustainable communities and enjoy the fruits of social, economic and environmental justice our union has worked to create new and innovative workforce development opportunities.
For nearly a decade, Local 1000’s research team has applied for and secured grant funding to support career development and training opportunities for state workers. To date, state workers have benefited from over $10 million in grant awards for apprenticeship programs and in-demand skills training that advance their careers and earning potential. Local 1000 has partnered with nearly ten institutions of higher learning including seven California Community Colleges and one four-year medical university to deliver state of the art career training to members.
Our Union has an established portfolio of career development opportunities which span multiple industry sectors. Now, in partnership with California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS), we are offering new skills development opportunities for RNs which include an Upskills Nursing Simulation Training, an RN Residency for new RNs, and a Telehealth module.
Our Union constantly seeks to develop new training opportunities for our members that impact career growth, job skills, and earning potential, so if you’re not yet a member, sign up today!
