SEIU Local 1000’s bargaining team is holding their first meeting after our hard-fought contract was signed into law by Governor Newsom.
The Statewide Bargaining Advisory Council (SBAC) is comprised of more than 100 member- elected bargaining representatives from up and down California—including the 60-plus members who negotiate our contract with the State. They meet regularly to develop strategies for bargaining and to understand and respond to issues that affect our lives at work and at home.
Their goal this weekend: taking the steps necessary to advance our represented employee’s interests in our next contract. Negotiations are less than three years away.
On Saturday, SBAC members will participate in interactive sessions and trainings that will develop skills in project planning and execution. They’ll also go in-depth in reviewing their recently-concluded efforts to negotiate a new contract.
On Sunday, the teams who negotiate for the 9 bargaining units Local 1000 represents will meet in individual breakouts to continue their discussions in a more unit-specific fashion.
