We fought hard in bargaining and won new Bargaining Unit (BU) 4 language in our 2023 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU ) giving us the right to establish the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Joint Labor Management Committee (Unit 4) In April, our Team met with the Department of Motor Vehicles’ top level management team to discuss ongoing statewide issues affecting our working conditions.
We discussed the following:
– Driver Safety Case Management System
– Virtual Field Office
– Dayforce
– Training Issues
– Overtime
Know your rights!
Management should not direct you to work on your breaks, lunches, or personal time.
Dayforce is not the sole means of monitoring attendance, as management is there to engage, observe, and communicate with us. We should be communicating with management as well. Management can adjust your time as needed due to Dayforce login and logout issues. Paper logs are no longer necessary as Field Offices statewide have implemented Dayforce.
Management may mandate overtime; however, management must follow the MOU 19.2 Overtime (Excludes Units 17 and 21).
19.5 Set Up/Shut Down: Time necessary to “set up” and/or “shut down” a State function shall be part of the employee’s workday.
The DMV JLMC strongly encourages you to contact the Member Resource Center (MRC) at 866.471.SEIU (7348), (Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.), or online to report violations of our MOU or any other issues or concerns that affect our working conditions. This information supports our effort to make sure management follows our MOU and helps ensure consistency throughout our department.
Our next DMV JLMC meeting will be in July.
BU 4 DMV JLMC’s purpose is to impact the atmosphere of the DMV, secure the power, strength, and culture of Labor for the future.
