Our Union is stronger together when we’re able to meet and talk about the issues we face in our jobs and at our workplaces. Our new Wednesday Outreach program to represented employees is giving us an opportunity to build relationships and power as we look towards negotiating a new contract next year.
Our Union is stronger together when we’re able to meet and talk about the issues we face in our jobs and at our workplaces. Our new Wednesday Outreach program to represented employees is giving us an opportunity to build relationships and power as we look towards negotiating a new contract next year.
Each Wednesday, Local 1000 representatives are joining with Job Stewards and Union leaders to have discussions with state workers. They’re having discussions about the benefits of memberships, how to be involved in the upcoming contract campaign, job representation, and other topics.
The program began May 11, and already we’ve met with more than 1,500 represented employees in nearly 100 worksites stretching from San Diego to Susanville. Along the way, we’ve been joined by more than 50 Job Stewards and signed up 76 new Local 1000 members.
In one example last week, DLC 752 President Kevin Healy, Local 1000 Job Steward Teresa Swift, and Board Chair Bill Hall visited the Santa Rosa DMV to meet and speak with represented workers at the front counter and driver safety areas.
We’re adding new worksites and more discussions to the list … and we look forward to seeing you. Watch your email for a weekly announcement for planned visits, or find the latest schedule our website home page at www.seiu1000.org
