SEIU Local 1000 and the State of California Government Operations Agency are currently recruiting candidates for our next IT Apprenticeship Program cohort. The IT Apprenticeship Program is offered jointly by SEIU Local 1000, GovOps, Mission College, and Sacramento City College. It is designed to provide state employees in the greater Sacramento area, who meet specific criteria, IT skills and experience. The focus of study for this cohort is client services/help desk.
If selected, apprentices enter a training and development assignment in an Information Technology position for a period of up to two years. During this time, they receive on-the-job training and related IT instruction through Sacramento City College. At the conclusion of the apprenticeship, apprentices will meet the minimum qualifications to promote into an Information Technology classification!

- California Correctional Health Care Services
- California State Teachers’ Retirement System
- Department of General Services
- Department of Rehabilitation
- Department of Transportation

Current Application Information
In order to apply, you must complete and submit the two-part IT Apprenticeship Program Application no later than 5:00 p.m. on September 9, 2020. Interviews will be held in the coming months, and classes are scheduled to being as early as January 2021.
