The Unit 3 bargaining team returned to the table today and continued to press the state on issues related to compensation and working conditions.
The state remains silent about the comprehensive salary proposal we presented 30 days ago. A key priority for the Unit 3 bargaining team, the proposal would place all Unit 3 members in a public-school type range and step salary schedule with no reference to geographical area. Our team will continue to fight to achieve this important pay structure for Unit 3 members.
Our team received a counter offer today on our proposal to promote the health and safety of our members and improve the learning conditions for their students by creating a reasonable temperature standard for all classrooms. We are reviewing their proposal to ensure the needs of our members are met.
We signed tentative agreements on 20 different sections of our existing contract, language that protects and preserves our hard-won rights for Unit 3 members. Our team also received another handful of proposals based on current contract language for review.
Unit 3 returns to the table on Thursday, June 9.
Rally for Our Contract on June 8!
Local 1000 members from all over the state will rally at the State Capitol on June 8 to show the governor and the legislature that we’re fighting for a great contract. We’re uniting with one voice and one goal: a great contract that includes a pay raise, creates more professional development, improves working conditions and ensures healthy and safe workplaces.
The rally will be held on the west steps of that capitol starting at 11am and food will be provided. Join us to show the state that this is Our Union, Our Contract, Our Future!
