Unit 14 signs deal on pay periods

Updated 10:30 a.m., July 15
Our Unit 14 bargaining team and state negotiators signed four tentative agreements Monday, including a provision to retain the twice-monthly negative pay periods that we won in 2006 after a long struggle at the Office of State Publishing.

“This is essentially rollover language but this is really important for our members,” said Unit 14 Chair Al Troyer. “We’re all very happy with getting paid on the 15th and 30th of each month.”

The other three tentative agreements carried forward language about pay differentials for two-color press operators at the State Compensation Insurance Fund in San Francisco, light limited duty language and deleted language that duplicated rollover language from the master table.

The state also passed four proposals to Unit 14 on Monday that all concern items that Local 1000 is negotiating at the master table, Troyer said.

Both sides are scheduled to bargain again at 10 am Wednesday.
