Your rights
Your union contract contains hundreds of provisions designed to protect your rights. Article 10, Health and Safety, defines your right to safe and hazard-free working conditions, including:

  • A safe and healthy working environment.
  • Receive training in general safe work practices.
  • Be given information the employer has about potential health hazards in the workplace.
  • Watch the employer monitor and measure harmful substances in the workplace.
  • Protective clothing to protect from damage or stains.
  • Safety equipment such as goggles, helmets, safety harnesses and turnout gear.
  • Training on infectious diseases.
  • Request an inspection of the unsafe or unhealthy worksite.
