Unit 3 exchanges 16 proposals with state
Updated 1:00 p.m., June 19
Our Unit 3 bargaining team exchanged 16 proposals with the state on Wednesday—workloads and an economic package addressing coaching differentials and equity adjustments were the key issues presented by Local 1000 negotiators.
No tentative agreements were signed.
Members from the state’s Special Schools for the Blind and Deaf made a presentation to state negotiators about their passion for the work they do despite low wages and recruitment and retention issues.
“Our members were eloquent in delivering a very important message directly to state negotiators,” said Pamm Handel, a member of the Unit 3 Bargaining Committee. “I don’t believe the state was aware of the important work our members do.”
Unit 3 is scheduled to resume negotiations on Monday, June 23.
