Propositions 30 and 32: Time to turn up the heat

Members are reaching voters, but much more work is ahead

Phone bankingWith less than two months before the critical November election, Local 1000 members are fired up on Proposition 32 and 30.

Volunteers have made more than 85,000 phone calls urging voters to vote no on Proposition 32 - which would cripple our ability to defend ourselves and our pensions from political attacks - and yes on Proposition 30 - which would implement a small tax increase on the wealthiest Californians to fund schools and public safety.
"We need to show Californians the truth about Prop. 32," said Margarita Maldonado, vice president for bargaining. "The fact is, if Prop. 32 passes, big corporations will dictate all future elections and we need everyone to step up to ensure that doesn't happen."

Although we have identified thousands of voters who will stand with us on both propositions, Local 1000 still needs as much help as possible to ensure voters are educated when they fill out their ballots.

We urgently need volunteers or we may lose an election that will define California for years to come. You can help out by working the phones, walking precincts or both.

Phone banking and precinct walking will continue until November 4. You can sign up by clicking here >>
