Local 1000 Bargaining Update

Your Local 1000 member-elected bargaining team is in the middle of three days of preparation for weekend negotiations with the governor's representatives over state employee compensation.

The 60+ members of the team are developing bargaining strategies and proposals based on input received from more than 14,000 state employees who responded to our bargaining survey last week.

More than 5,000 Local 1000 members also provided alternate cost-saving recommendations.

"We are using those ideas and are prepared to work with the governor and legislature to implement solutions that go beyond cutting the pay of the employees represented by Local 1000," said Margarita Maldonado, Local 1000 vice president for bargaining.

Bargaining is scheduled to begin June 9.

You're invited to watch a Channel 1000 LIVE Town Hall on Saturday at 3 p.m. Local 1000 President Yvonne R. Walker and representatives from the bargaining team will be on hand to provide an update on negotiations and to answer questions from members. The live broadcast can be seen at 3 p.m. at seiu1000.org - or you can watch the archived version anytime after 4 p.m.

As bargaining progresses, we'll be sending you email updates and posting to the Local 1000 website.
