Local 1000 presents comprehensive proposal, awaits response from state
Local 1000 has presented a comprehensive proposal to the state in response to the governor's call for a cut in employee compensation. The proposal comes after four days of bargaining that began Saturday and concluded with an all-night session.
Developed by the 60+ elected members of the Local 1000 bargaining team, the proposal protects jobs and provides flexibility for members by using short- and long-term solutions that achieve the administration's goals.
"Our proposal reflects the clearly stated desires of our members," said Margarita Maldonado, Local 1000 vice president for bargaining. "It provides an opportunity for us to work with the governor to achieve additional savings during the state's budget crisis."
Local 1000 is awaiting a response from the state. As negotiations progress, you can stay informed by reading upcoming bargaining updates sent via email and posted on the bargaining webpage.
