Persistence pays off against bad boss
After twelve months of fighting a bad boss, steward Jeff Recht was successful in reaching an agreement to transfer an associate information systems analyst to another supervisor. Jeff is a Unit 1 Classification Bargaining Unit Representative (CBUR) for Sacramento.
"The boss broke nearly all of the rules in the book," says Jeff. "He would humiliate the member in front of his peers; he required that the employee check in every time he left his desk - even if it was just a restroom break; he micro-managed and monitored constantly."

Jeff filed five grievances, four reasonable accommodation requests, an appeal to the State Personnel Board (SPB), and organized co-workers to support the member.
"The best part, after all was done, was the member decided to become a steward," said Jeff. "He doesn't want anyone else to go through what he did."
