Local 1000 reaches agreement over pay parity for
CDCR-adult teachersLocal 1000 has negotiated a tentative agreement for CDCR-adult teachers that allows many employees to see an immediate increase in salary.
"This tentative agreement is the first step in establishing parity pay with DJJ," said Cindie Fonseca, chair of Unit 3.
The agreement:
- Applies the DJJ salary schedules to CDCR-Adult institutions throughout the state. No employee will make less money with the new salary schedule.
- Allows employees who complete education units to make over $90,000 annually.
- Creates a 220-day school calendar. The calendar is fixed and includes a week off in September, November, December, January, March, May and July.
"The bargaining team worked hard and pushed many proposals including allowing flexibility of schedule and to include the librarians," said Fonseca. "But the state was unwilling to give employees any flexibility in their time off and librarians weren’t included because they were not included in the DJJ parity table."
The agreement remains tentative pending the ratification vote of all Unit 3 members.
CDCR adult teachers will vote on the TA at meetings throughout August.
